The Drums - Let's Go Surfing (The Raveonettes Remix)

Love The Drums and love The Raveonettes. With the Raveonettes it adds a little more edgy feeling. Not sure if I like it better then the original but I do like it alot.

Here is a free download of the song

The Very Best - Warm Heart Of Africa feat. Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend)

Here is a pretty cool from The Very Best feat. Ezra from Vampire Weekend. Apparently this was the big song of the World Cup in Africa. They also have a song featuring MIA that is worth checking out.

Beach House - I Do Not Care for The Winter Sun - FREE Download

Happy Holidays “We recorded this a few days ago in our practice space: its a winter/holiday song,” “its a gift to the internet, thank you for the lovely, intense year!”

Iron & Wine - Tree by the River - FREE download

It will cost you an email address to get the free song but well worth it.

Here is the song from Youtube.

The Avett Brothers - If its The Beaches

Gorgeous song.

The Vaccines - Blow It Up

This could possibly be the biggest band to watch in 2011. They are already darlings in the UK with out an official release yet and this is a pretty strong song to start out. I have heard that The Vaccines are the UK Strokes. As a huge Strokes fan I can here the resemblence a little. I also can here Band of Horses while listening to this song as weird as that sounds. Great Great song - I am excited to hear more from these guys.

The Decemberists - Down By The Water - FREE Download

Down By The Water FREE Download

Available either on Decemberists site or on Itunes this week as a free download

Coldplay - Christmas Lights

Merry Christmas a few days late. Thought I should at least post 1 Christmas song this time of year. Over 7 million hits on youtube in 3 weeks .............. yeah Coldplay could possibly be the biggest band in the world now. Oh how I miss the Parachutes days when I could go to their concert at a 1000 person venue and be in the front row for $25. Anyways this is a shinny new nice Christmas tune.

Flying Lotus - And The World Laughs With You (feat. Thom Yorke)

Nice short to the point song - and of course a little Thom Yorke doesn't hurt.

Thursday, December 23, 2010

Delorean - Real Love

Another Pretty Great and Wonderful along with Fantastic Song of 2010. The Subiza Album reminds me a little of Sigur Ros, just a straight out chill album worth listening too on those depressing rainy days.

Wednesday, December 22, 2010

Local Natives - Wide Eyes

The whole Gorilla Manor album is pretty great. Wide Eyes is the first track and it gets you hooked right away. Almost like there is no turning back after the first song.

Glasser - Home

Hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ............... Maybe not for everyone but yet again another indie tune.

Warpaint - Undertow

yet another 2010 track that stands out!

New Rural Alberta Advantage - Coming March 1st

You can listen to the single 'Stamp' now and can even download it for free by giving out your email address. I am a huge fan of this band - Loved loved the Hometowns album and am hoping for the same success with the release of Departing.

Egyptian Hip Hop - Rad Pitt

Another nice shiny new refreshing Tune. Don't think they have anything released yet so you may only be able to hear it on youtube for now. Could be just another one of those "Hey this band is going to be huge" type of deals but this song sounds promising to me.

Foals - Spanish Sahara

This song is an incredible journey from the first listen. Hard to find a better tune in 2010.

These New Puritans - Hologram

yeah yeah yeah the video is a little strange and you may not want your kids to watch it but the music is amazing. The whole 'Hidden' album is one to check out. I believe NME had this as the best Album of 2010. I was a bit skeptical at first listen but the album is great from start to finish. Some of the other highlights for me were the songs Three Thousand and 5.

Wednesday, December 8, 2010

Gorillaz - "Crystalised" (The xx Cover) (BBC Radio 1 - Live Lounge)

Best Coast - When I'm With You

This video makes me want to go to either McD's or In and Out - can't decide. Pretty cool new music, with a crazy music video.

Tuesday, July 27, 2010

The Verve - Sonnet

I know alot of people only know The Verve from Bittersweet Symphony song but if you listened to the whole Urban Hymns album you would see why they have so much more to offer. Again Richard Ashcroft is a music genious.

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

Arcade Fire - Ready to Start

New Single from Arcade Fire. Can't wait for the whole album to come out.

Friday, July 16, 2010

Razorlight - I Can't Stop This Feeling I've Got

Had this song on heavy rotation a couple of years back....and it just hit my ipod on shuffle the other day - made me happy.

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

Baths - Maximalist

Apparently the guy just likes taking baths and that is how he came up with the band name. Baths.

Thursday, July 8, 2010

The Rural Alberta Advantage - Drain The Blood

I know I posted a song from these guys not too long ago but this song is incredible.

Friday, July 2, 2010

The Tallest Man On Earth - The Wild Hunt (Live)

This guy can play guitar. Check out the whole Wild Hunt album it is fantastic. Everyone compares the voice to Bob Dylan's, I dunno.

Wednesday, June 30, 2010

Sleigh Bells - Rill Rill

Ok so I downloaded Sleigh Bells 'Treats' album and am listening to it on the bus ride home from work............ and wow it is crazy. At points I was like there is some aweful noise happening here, so I turned it up a little louder and am like wow this is incredibly amazing. So at the same time it can be annoying as hell it is also unique and different and Great all at the sametime. I love this Rill Rill song, I will be interested in seeing the official video for it whenever it is released.

Tame Impala - Solitude is Bliss

Been awhile since the last post. Must have had a baby or something. Anyways Tame Impala are out of Australia and Solitude is Bliss is off the debut album InnerSpeaker. Has a good retro feel to it.

Monday, June 14, 2010

The National - Terrible Love

The National are a band that should be huge. I think if anyone listened to High Violet they would understand why. I think this album will put them over the top. It is an awesome album start to finish. Terrible Love is the first song on the new album and at first listen it blew me away. Time to jump on board with this incredible band.

Friday, June 11, 2010

Tokyo Police Club - Your English is Good

This song is from their debut album, and now they have their sophmore album Champ released. Great sound and of course YES they are Canadian, and even from Ontario to boot.

Thursday, June 10, 2010

Arcade Fire - Keep the Car Running

This is from the BBC Radio 2 Session. Neon Bible album blew me away, I love every song on that album but this song "Keep The Car Running" has to be my personal fav. My little brother is living in Montreal and it turns out Arcade Fire are from Montreal and played a free show last night. I called him to tell him to go but I know he probably didn't. I actually put this album up close to the category of Radiohead's The Bends - and that album is untouchable.

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

Neon Trees - Animal

Just thought I would post a little local music flav to the blog. Neon Trees formed in Provo, UT of all places. They actually opened for The Killers a couple of years back before they were signed with any label. Well now they are one of the big rock stories in Utah. City Weekly rated them best local band of the year, song has been on commericals, played Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel. Oh and you might be wondering if they are Mormon? YES they are. Here is a cool article to check out on them.....

The Raveonettes - Love in a Trashcan

As far as I am concerned The Raveonettes are one of those bands that just doesn't get the credit they deserve. They have a unique sound and a unique look. This video is super cool, I almost like it as much as the song itself. I usually could care less about music videos but this one I had to watch twice.

Tuesday, June 8, 2010

The New Pornographers - Mutiny, I Promise You

Ok I love this song, but yes the video is a little crazy silly. Being a big Flight of the Concords fan it was pretty funny seeing Mel in the video.

Thursday, June 3, 2010

The Sounds - Home is Where Your Heart is (Acoustic)

I found this cool acoustic version of Home is Where the Heart is. I think the background looks awesome you could make a fun little music store (or maybe it already is) out of it. Anyways it is just a kind of fun slow tune.

Here is the album version of the song

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

Handsome Furs - Can't Get Started

So one day I post Wolf Parade next day it is Handsome Furs. I think this is a pretty good tune and worth a listen. Plague Park album is a good listen from start to finish.

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

The Libertines - Can't Stand Me Now

Well today is Olive's Birthday so I thought I would post this song. The reason for this is this is the only song Olive ever wants to listen too when she gets into the car. She sings "Can't Stop Nemo". Let's just hope she doesn't catch some of the other lyrics in the song. Great song though.

Ash - Shining Light

One of those bands that just never caught a break here in the USA. Check out some of their new stuff on the A-Z series

Monday, May 10, 2010

Coldplay - See You Soon

I have always liked this song, and yes I do have one of the original copies of the Blue Room EP in fantastic condition. I think that EP alone sells for close to $100 and is hard to find. I also owe Stefanie an essay about this song which I am currently still working on.

Thursday, May 6, 2010

Passion Pit - Little Secrets

What can I say......... I love Passion Pit and Little Secrets opens this album up with a BOOM. A fantastic album that I can listen to over and over and makes a 40 minutes bus ride something to look forward too. Sorry I couldn't find a video on youtube of the song but here is the song anyways.

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

Drugstore - El President (feat. Thom Yorke)

An oldie but a goodie. Yeah so what if I bought the album just because Thom Yorke was singing for one song. This is somewhat of a hidden gem. Enjoy.

Monday, May 3, 2010

Beach House - Zebra

Nice little song for a Monday. Definitely from an indie band to say the least. I like the whole album but this Zebra song and Norway are pretty catchy.

Friday, April 30, 2010

Oh No Oh My - Walk in the Park

One from a few years back, this one probably went over looked by a few people. Fun little song. No video just the song sorry.

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

The Stills - Lola Stars and Stripes

Another Montreal band hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm go figure. "Logic Will Break Your Heart" is an album that never gets old and Lola is the first song on the album. Great album and great song - I just can't believe it is 7 years old now.

Tuesday, April 27, 2010

The Morning Benders - Excuses

Pretty cool version here with the live session. It has the sound of a band from the 60's, I am sure my mom would love this stuff.

Monday, April 26, 2010

Shout Out Louds - The Comeback

About as catchy as they come. Here is a the live performance of Shout Out Louds "The Comeback" on Leno.

Friday, April 23, 2010

Wilco - Radio Cure

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is one of the all time great American albums. I can listen to this album from start to finish any day of the week wether it was when it was released in 2002 or on April 23rd, 2010 and still think it is an American Gem. Radio Cure is one song on the album that caught my attention at first listen and I could listen to it on repeat. This version is from the DVD I am Trying to Break Your Heart, it is on the bonus DVD.

Thursday, April 22, 2010

Band of Horses - Factory FREE DOWNLOAD

Off to the right on their website just enter your birthdate and email address and they will send you a link to download the song Factory. Can't wait for the new album!

Doves - There Goes the Fear

Here is a nice little acoustic version of There Goes the Fear. It is a shame that the Doves have never got more recognition for their work, being overshadowed by bands like Coldplay. The Doves are brilliant in my opinion and create nothing but great music. It took the movie 500 days of Summer to even get a few people to listen. If you want to hear a truly great album there is nothing better then The Last Broadcast, from start to finish it is fantastic.

Mt Desolation (members of The Killers, Keane, Noah and the Whale, and Mumford and Sons)

Check out this article from Canoe about the band Mt Desolation, sounds like a nice little side project.

CANOE -- JAM! Music: Killers, Keane form supergroup

The Killers' drummer Ronnie Vannucci has joined forces with Keane's keyboard player/songwriter Tim Rice-Oxley, as well as Noah And The Whale star Tom Hobden and Winston Marshall from Mumford and Sons to create a band called Mt Desolation.

Plants and Animals - Bye Bye Bye

Apparently this song was a crucial song in the TV show Chuck. I have never watched Chuck so I wouldn't know about that. This song is from Plants and Animals debut album Parc Avenue. They actually just released a new album yesterday but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. These guys come from Montreal I believe. Not surprising the Montreal indie scene is in full force.

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

Ash - Dare to Dream FREE DOWNLOADS

Pretty sweet deal going on here with the band Ash. They are giving away a free download every two weeks I believe for the whole year. I just downloaded Space shot (live), Dare to Dream (Mogwai Remix), Arcadia (Live). Ash is a great band that has never really made it in the US of A for whatever reason I don't know.

The National - Bloodbuzz Ohio FREE DOWNLOAD

sign up to get a copy of the new single by The National. Great song and gotta love the free price tag on it.

Badly Drawn Boy - Pissing in the Wind

Spitting in the Wind vs. Pissing in the Wind -- whatever. Badly Drawn Boys debut album Hour of the Bewilderbeast was an instant classic in my books. This is a great song and I actually think the video is quite hilarious. HA............ha...ha

anyways here is the album version of the song if you are dying to hear him say PISS

Sunday, April 18, 2010

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - The Skin of my Yellow Country Teeth

This has always been one of my favourite songs, I was just listening to it today and it is as good as ever.

Saturday, April 17, 2010

Travis -- Flowers in the Window

One of my favourite bands of all time. Thought I would put this as a song of the day with the new kid on the way and all. I love you Stefanie, Olive, and 'Clouds'

Friday, April 16, 2010

Beach Fossils - Daydream

My good friend Jay actually told me about these guys a couple weeks back. I initially downloaded this song "Daydream" and almost put it on repeat for the day. It has a great sound and I can't wait for the whole album to be released. This is a cool little live version of the song and their is not alot out right now by these guys. You can get the Desert Sand/Daydream single on itunes and emusic and I am sure a bunch of other sites. I just read that their self-titled debut album will be released May 25th. These guys hail from Brooklyn and from what I have heard so far I expect great things from them, and I am sure they will be dubbed the next big thing in due time.

Here is another place to check out these guys: did a live session with them which is awesome and worth a few minutes of anyones time.

Thursday, April 15, 2010

Julian Casablancas - 11th Dimension

ahhhh how I miss The Strokes - here's to hoping for a release of a new record. Julian's solo project is a pretty good one, this is a catchy song.

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

The XX - VCR

Here is a live version of VCR by The xx. This band is about as indie as they come. I guess you have to be somewhat of a 'hipster' to listen to these guys - the fact is that the album is fantastic and is the chill of all chill (or something like that).

Tuesday, April 13, 2010

MGMT - Kids

This video has been viewed over 27 million times for a reason. This song will surely make you happy.

Karen O & The Kids - All is Love

I know alot of people didn't really like the movie Where the Wild Things Are, but I actually really liked it. I think it had a lot to do with the music, I think Karen O (lead singer from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) made the perfect soundtrack to this movie.

Monday, April 12, 2010

The Gaslight Anthem - Here's Looking at you Kid

Here is the album version of Here's looking at you kid. These New Jersey guys have a great sound and have been heavily compared to Bruce Springsteen of all people. The '59 Sound is an album that not many people have heard about it but once they listen once they won't forget it.

The Gaslight Anthem - Casanova, Baby!

Here is a cool video courtesy of NME of Brian Fallon (lead singer of The Gaslight Anthem) performing an acoustic version of Casanova, Baby!
The whole album is worth checking out, one of those ones you can listen from start to finish over and over. Album is The '59 Sound. They also have their debut album Sink or Swim which is also worth a listen and their E.P. Senor and the Queen, I can't get enough of this sound.

Friday, April 9, 2010

Dead Man's Bones - In the Room Where you Sleep

You know just because I am the number 1 Ryan Gosling fan out there. This is a pretty cool album and definitly worth checking out.

Broken Social Scene - All to All

Nice fresh sound, it makes me happy. Gotta love these fellow Canadians.

Thursday, April 8, 2010

Either Way - The Twang feat. Mike Skinner

Since I missed a few days thought I would add another tune today. Here is a pretty sweet remix featuring one of my favourites Mike Skinner.

Muse - Resistance

I meant to post this on Monday the day of the concert here in SLC. This is my fav Muse song. I have to say that seeing Muse live in concert is something everyone should experience. These guys are unbelievable live and the whole performance is just an art to them.

Saturday, April 3, 2010

The Kooks -- Seaside

I nice little tune, that makes you want to go to the beach.

Friday, April 2, 2010

Jónsi - Go Do

Couldn't get this to embed but there is the youtube link to it.

Jónsi is the lead singer from Sigur Ros and this is the first single from his new album. Song sounds pretty cool actually I think it has a little more Pop sound to it. I like it and will be grabbing the album when it comes out on April 6th I believe.

Band of Horses -- The Great Salt Lake

I have always enjoyed this band and have felt they are under appreciated and underrated as a band. This song I guess comes a little close to home for me.

Thursday, April 1, 2010

Radiohead - KILLER CARS

Here is a pretty sweet live version of Killer Cars by Radiohead back in 9/6/1994 in Japan. I have always loved this song but at the same time I am afraid to listen to this while driving. This is the all time great Radiohead B-side by my books. Nothing better then Radiohead in the Bends years. Changed my whole prespective on music and I will never be the same. Thom Yorke is a God.

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

The Drums - Let's Go Surfing

Excellent Tune here.

Kasabian - Fire

Fire by Kasabian

I have been listening to this song on repeat for some time now and thought it should be recognized a little bit. I know that it is all over the place now, I even saw a couple of commercials with it. I have it set as my ringtone on my phone actually.

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

Glasvegas - Garaldine (Live BBC)

Glasgow band that will blow you away. Check out this video from the BBC - Garaldine by Glasvegas.
