The Donkeys 6/20/11 - LIVE REVIEW slc, ut

Last night I had the pleasure of seeing The Donkeys, live at Urban Lounge, who are on tour in support of their recently released album, Born with Stripes. These guys put on a high energy set throughout the night. Each member of the band was exceptional in their double duties with Tim playing guitar, bass, and vocals – Sam playing drums and vocals – Jessie playing lead guitar and sitar – and Anthony playing keyboard, guitar, and vocals. Each member has their own way of handling their individual parts of each song and creating a sonic atmosphere.
The crowd was small but genuinely into the music while dancing throughout the entire set. The band seemed to be having fun and even let members of the audience get up on stage to sing portions of the songs with them.
The highlight song for me was Bloodhound, because, simply enough, it is my favorite song of theirs. Yet they did play songs that covered both their recently released album, which can be purchased here, and older material.
The Donkeys are a fantastic way to spend an evening and I highly recommend that everyone goes out to see them.

Sam Sprague – drums, vocals
Tim DeNardo – guitar, bass, vocals

  1. It was a pretty cool show. I should have a video for 'Downtown Jenny' later on that I will add to the post. I kinda felt throughout the night how Lukens described the show "This has to be our weirdest show we have ever played".

I was a little disappointed that they left out
'I Like The Way You Walk' other then that it was a fun show to check out.
