Kurt Vile - Live Review (Twilight Concert Series)

Kurt Vile brought his nice somber, low key, and humble music to SLC, UT on 8/4/2011. Opening for the likes of Thurston Moore must be a real honor for Kurt, as you can hear some similarities and influences in his own music. Kurt's latest album 'Smoke Ring For My Halo' is a fantastic listen and hearing him play the songs live is even that much better. You can get an up close look at his emotions and passions for the music he creates. He is the type of musician I can relate to most when he is on stage he does everything in his power to not standout with commentary in between songs, and dancing and acting like a fool. He has a very calm and humble stage presence, and when he is performing his music he lets the music and lyrics do the work for him. It was a very nice set that he gave the folks of SLC and it has even further renewed my love for 'Smoke Ring For My Halo'.
