Wild Nothing - Live Review (Twilight Concert Series)
Wild Nothing, fronted by Jack Tatum, played last night as one of the installments of the 2011 Twilight Concert Series in Salt Lake City. With a rather humble stage presence, playing songs from their debut album, "Gemini", the band appeared to have an overall positive attitude and seemed happy to be there. At one point even thanking Bright Eyes by claiming,"it had been a dream of theirs since they were in their teens to open for them." As the melodic guitar riffs rang with occasional synth, I often caught glimpses of various people casually dancing to the generally catchy upbeat songs. Overall the atmosphere and music were both great. The first thing that came to mind when I originally listened to the album was the presence of a "dreampop" or "shoegaze" sound. In the end I would recommend checking this band out and I look forward to hearing what they come up with in the future.
