My introduction to popular music came like many of us born in the 80s: MTV. But somewhere between 1998 and Real World/Road Rules Challenge, I gave up on the station (for music, at least). I ventured out on my own and found many bands, mainly of the pop-punk/post-hardcore variety: Brand New, Saves The Day, The Promise Ring, Piebald, among others.
In 2003, I moved to the heart of Madison, Wisconsin. It was there that I started to be introduced to new music, mainly through the people I socialized with and the seemingly endless amount of shows that came through the Midwest. Since then, it’s been hard keeping my ear off the ground. I always enjoy finding and listening to new music, and nothing gives me more of a rush than when I can connect with that music. I hope you enjoy the perspectives.
