Play It Forward: Electric Guest

Electric Guest are a duo out of Los Angeles that have been picking up some buzz heading into their SXSW appearance. They also have a bunch of other tour dates set up along with an appearance at the Sasquatch Music Festival. The band is managed by Monotone Inc (Vampire Weekend, Jack White, The Shins) and their music is produced by Brian Burton (AKA Danger Mouse). With those big names in the music industry in mind, it is only fitting that they are pegged as one of the 2012 new bands that will break through. Asa Taccone explains the bands name...
“When I got kicked out of high school in Berkeley, I started hanging out at a donut shop. An older woman who worked there was a weirdo like me, into a lot of new age-y, metaphysical shit and before I left she told me to always remember that I was ‘an electric guest of the universe.’ For some reason it stuck with me.”

Electric Guest have their debut album 'Mondo' set for release on April 24th via Downtown Records. The creation of the album 'Mondo' was quite the process for lead-man Asa, as he made music nonstop, writing over a hundred songs, while living in LA. Out of all those songs they worked it down to a total of 10 songs that will find the finished album.  The two tracks (below) 'This Head I Hold' and 'American Daydream' are a glimpse at what the polished results gave us.  Electric Guest sound is a combination of Electronic music meets Pop Rock with hints of early day Garage Rock.  It is a recipe for something new, something bold and something worth checking out.
